This qualification is intended for those that have a responsibility for internal quality assurance (previously internal verification) as part of delivery of a qualification. These qualifications replace the V1 and V2 qualifications. They are part of the new suite of qualifications for assessors, internal quality assurers (IQA) and external quality assurers (EQA). This change was needed to meet the emerging needs of the developing qualification frameworks and to reflect changes in the practice of assessment. These qualifications are required for assessors and verifiers involved in National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). These qualifications would be helpful for assessors/teachers who deliver vocational qualifications with applied learning, such as BTEC Firsts and Nationals. Ofqual has confirmed that practitioners who hold the A, V or D units will not have to prequalify, but must be aware of and operate in accordance with the relevant new qualification.
No previous qualifications are required to undertake this qualification. The course is aimed at assessors and quality assurance staff who deliver qualifications that use the term 'NVQ' in their title and those delivering other qualifications. To develop your portfolio of evidence you must as a minimum for the assessment of unit 2 be monitoring at least two assessors - each with a minimum of two candidates of their own.
You will be required to attend 8 workshops spread over 3 months, meet individually with your assessor and produce a portfolio of evidence.
To achieve the 12 credit award you need to pass 2 units; understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment (Level 4) and Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment (Level 4) The overall grade for each qualification is a 'pass'. You must achieve all the required units within the specified qualification structure to gain this qualification. Evidence can take a variety of different forms, including direct observation, products of the learner's work, personal statements, assignment, case studies, witness testimony
On successful completion of this course, students will achieve a Level 4 Edexcel Award in IQA (Internal Quality Assurance)
